Rep. Adam Smith, a long-serving congressional representative for Washington’s 9th District, recently shared his views on various topics via his social media platform. With three distinct posts, dated between April 10 and 11, 2025, he addressed topics ranging from sports enthusiasm to significant socio-political issues.

On April 10, 2025, Smith expressed his enthusiasm for sports after hosting members of the Seattle Seahawks. He mentioned, "Some folks from @Seahawks came by yesterday. Always happy to talk about the best team in the league and look forward to Seattle taking that Lombardi Trophy this year."

The following day, April 11, 2025, Smith marked the beginning of Black Maternal Health Week with a statement highlighting the need for addressing health disparities faced by women of color. He emphasized, "Today starts Black Maternal Health Week, where we acknowledge ways to break down barriers for health inequalities that disproportionately affect women of color. Black mothers need strong perinatal, maternal, and reproductive health resources, and as a proud member of the Black".

Later the same day, Smith posted about the historical significance of the Fair Housing Act, initially passed in 1968. He focused on ongoing housing affordability challenges, stating, "On this day in 1968, the Fair Housing Act was passed, prohibiting discrimination when buying a home. We still have a long fight ahead of us to build more affordable housing, but this legislation was a step towards supporting all Americans."

Adam Smith has served in the U.S. Congress, representing Washington's 9th District, since 1997. His background includes a tenure in the Washington State Senate and academic achievements that include a BA from Fordham University and a JD from the University of Washington.
