The Museum of Flight is presenting its Home Beyond Earth Exhibit, which features an immersive ambient music suite by the local sound-design duo, Trash Lights. The composers, Brendon Helgason and Steven Andrea, who are the founders of the Subterranaut Recording Collective, offer a blend of ambient and neo-classical styles in this installation.
Trash Lights' music suite includes original compositions that aim to transport visitors into the realm of space. The soundscape is designed to complement the visual and interactive elements of the exhibit. It evokes sensations such as weightlessness and the vastness of space, as well as technological marvels from various space stations. Visitors can explore at their own pace with music that evolves throughout different areas for a dynamic auditory experience.
The installation also incorporates additional soundscapes to enhance the atmosphere. These include soundbites from actual space missions like rocket booster noises and ambient sounds from the International Space Station. These elements aim to spark wonder while ensuring accessibility for all visitors.
The exhibit will be open through January 26th, 2025, offering an exploration of space, music, and technology.
