On April 1, 2025, Rep. Adam Smith addressed his concerns about current policies, stating, "We need to do better. It's not sufficient to attack Trump's reckless policies. We need to also offer a reasonable alternative."

Later on that day, Smith expressed a demand for accountability within the Trump Administration, mentioning a controversial communication practice. He stated, "Today, I stood with @HouseDemocrats, @RepPeteAguilar, @jahimes, and @RepHoulahan to talk about the dangers of senior Trump Administration officials discussing attack plans in a Signal group chat. We need accountability from the Administration for this dangerous national security."

Additionally, Smith highlighted the issue of homelessness in King County, emphasizing the need for a multifaceted approach. He commented, "Over 40,000 people experience homelessness in King County, and even more may end up living on the streets unless we take a comprehensive approach—one that includes building more affordable housing, creating an adequate shelter system, investing in mental health services, and..."
