Known for his active engagement in both political and sports discussions, Rep. Smith addressed decisions affecting local agriculture as well as commenting on NFL team strategies.

On March 18, 2025, Rep. Adam Smith voiced his criticism over a decision by Secretary Rollins and the USDA to terminate Local Food Purchase Assistance funds. He stated: "I signed onto a letter with 81 of my Democratic colleagues condemning @SecRollins and @USDA's decision to terminate Local Food Purchase Assistance funds. This reckless decision will take millions of dollars away from Washington's farmers and jeopardize food security for many…" His remarks underscore concerns about the financial impact on local farmers in Washington.

In another tweet posted later that day, Smith commented on the performance strategy of the Seattle Seahawks, questioning whether evenly distributing mediocrity across all positions is beneficial for the team’s success: "Can Hawks really make it past mediocrity by evenly spreading mediocrity out over all positions? Sure, don’t overpay for bad players. Deshaun Watson is on the list. But how is it the best teams somehow manage to pay for at least a couple top talents and all we have is a punter?"

Furthermore, he highlighted an ESPN report detailing NFL player salaries by position, pointing out that among approximately 60 players listed as highest paid by their position over a three-year average and total guaranteed dollars, only one Seahawk was mentioned: "ESPN out today with a list of highest paid NFL players by position. By 3 year average and total guaranteed $. Top 3 to 5 players at each spot. Of the roughly 60 players listed only one is a Seahawk. The punter. Might this be a problem?"
