Adam Smith hosts roundtable with minority contractors amid national security critique

Rep. Adam Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 9th district, shared a series of tweets addressing various topics from local economic initiatives to national security concerns. Smith, who has been in office since 1997 and previously served in the Washington State Senate, took to social media to express his views and commemorate historical events.

On February 21, 2025, Rep. Smith highlighted his engagement with local business leaders by hosting a Minority Contractors Roundtable. He stated: "Today, I hosted a Minority Contractors Roundtable in my district officer to speak with those spurring new construction across our district. Their work boosts our economy, brings more jobs, and more housing, so I was happy to speak with them."

The following day, on February 22, 2025, Rep. Smith criticized former President Trump's decision regarding national security leadership changes: "More chaos and distinction from Trump on national security. Firing CQ Brown as joint chiefs chair is completely unjustified. Smart, competent leader to be replaced by a retired 3 star? More weakening of America. Putin just keeps smiling."

Later that day, he commemorated a significant event in civil rights history: "On this day in 1956, the Montgomery Bus Boycott arrests took place, where many brave Americans went behind bars for the greater good. Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., and Jo Ann Robinson were not deterred but instead more motivated to stand up and demand civil rights in our…"
