Rep. Adam Smith, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington's 9th district, has been vocal about his concerns regarding President Trump and Elon Musk in recent tweets. Smith, who has served in Congress since 1997 after replacing Randy Tate, shared his thoughts on various platforms, including an appearance on KUOW.

On February 5, 2025, Rep. Adam Smith tweeted about his participation in a discussion with KUOW regarding President Trump and Elon Musk: "I joined @KUOW today to talk about President Trump and Elon Musk: https://t.co/FdrVZGSkmE".

The following day, February 6, he referenced an article from the Center for Global Development (CGDev) that refutes claims made by Elon Musk concerning U.S. foreign aid. In his tweet, he emphasized the importance of such assistance: "Great article from @CGDev debunking yet another incorrect claim from Elon Musk. Our foreign aid helps provide emergency food aid, remove landmines, fight the spread of infectious diseases, and so much more - the need for U.S. foreign assistance is clear."

Later on February 6, Rep. Smith expressed his apprehensions over Elon Musk's involvement with the Trump administration through another tweet: "I am deeply concerned by the role Elon Musk is playing in the Trump administration. The President has given Musk broad, sweeping power with no clear definition or boundary. Musk is using that power in ways both illegal and destructive." He further mentioned issues related to blocked payments without providing additional details.
