Rep. Adam Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 9th district, shared his views on working with President Trump and House Republicans through a series of tweets posted on January 21 and 22, 2025. Smith has been a member of Congress since replacing Randy Tate in 1997 and previously served in the Washington State Senate.
On January 21, Smith tweeted about his appearance on Fox News over the weekend to discuss bipartisan cooperation. He expressed readiness to work for the American people but emphasized that he needs cooperation from his colleagues across the aisle. "I joined @FoxNews this weekend to discuss working with President Trump and House Republicans. I'm ready to work for the American people, but I need my colleagues on the other side of the aisle to pull their weight."
Later that day, Smith criticized President Trump's approach to infrastructure and healthcare issues in another tweet. He suggested that Trump's policies are undermining efforts by Congress members to address these critical areas. "According to President Trump, fixing our roads, drinking clean water, repairing infrastructure, lowering the price of prescription drugs, and promoting clean energy is not the way to make America great again. On January 22, Smith congratulated Ichiro Suzuki from Seattle on being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame via Twitter. His message included support for Seattle's baseball team. "Congratulations to Seattle's own Ichiro Suzuki on joining the Baseball Hall of Fame. Go Mariners!"
