Rep. Adam Smith highlights new legislation and historical events

Rep. Adam Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington's 9th district, has shared several tweets highlighting legislative efforts and historical commemorations. Smith, who replaced Randy Tate in 1997, has been a member of Congress since then and previously served in the Washington State Senate from 1991 to 1997.

On December 6, 2024, Rep. Adam Smith announced the introduction of the PHAZE Act through a tweet. He stated that "The newly introduced PHAZE Act cuts down on construction costs, boosts sustainability, decreases building time, and is more cost-effective than current housing practices. Let’s expand the supply of affordable housing in this new phase of development."

Later that day, he marked an important historical event by tweeting about the ratification of the 13th Amendment: "159 years ago, the 13th amendment was ratified, formally abolishing slavery in the United States." This post reflects on a significant milestone in American history.

On December 7, 2024, Rep. Smith took to Twitter to remember those who lost their lives during a pivotal moment in World War II history. He tweeted: "On December 7, 1941, over 2,000 service members and civilians were killed during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Join me in remembering their lives and commitment to our country." This message serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by service members and civilians during wartime.
