The SeaTac Community Center’s 30th Birthday celebration wrapped up the events scheduled for the winter, which also included new events like the Lovely Jazz Night in February.
The SeaTac Community Center’s birthday celebration was March 11and included a petting zoo, face painting, bouncy houses and so much more. People were able to drop by early for a pancake breakfast and then enjoy lively activities in the afternoon.
Also this month, the Community Kitchen Night returned after a pandemic-related hiatus. People were able to join together and try a new meal, prepared by the Food Innovation Network with the help of local community volunteers. The menu included chicken croquettes, vermicelli soup, fried plantains and baklava. For more photos click here.
The City hosted its first lovely jazz night in February, which featured live music and food. To view the video recap, click here.
February also brought us the first Local Art Showcase, an opportunity for artists of any age to participate in. Participants shared their art work, photography and 3-D creations. This was a free event to participate in and was on display the week of Feb. 21 – 24 at the SeaTac Community Center.
Spring events are right around the corner with SeaTac’s Easter Egg Hunt on April 8 at 9 a.m. at Angle Lake Park. Make Music Day returns on May 20 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Angle Lake Park. People can listen to live music and look at artwork from local artists. There is also an opportunity for artists and musicians to participate in this event.
The first summer event is a new one–Summer Night Market will kick off on summer solstice, June 21 at Angle Lake Park from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. There will be a variety of food and artisanal vendors along with live music.
Another new event, the Family Bike Rodeo, will be hosted at North SeaTac Park from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. June 24. People will be able to learn about bike safety and proper helmet protection. There will be free helmets given away and a free bike raffled off thanks to Seattle Children’s Hospital, SeaTac BMX and Cycle Therapy.
Garden Story Time returns Thursday, June 29 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. at the Highline Botanical Garden with the help of our local KCLS children’s librarian.
