U.S. Congressman Adam Smith, representing Washington’s 9th district since 1997, and a former member of the Washington State Senate, communicated various concerns and advocacy through his recent social media posts. Smith, who holds a BA from Fordham University and a JD from the University of Washington, has been an advocate for youth and economic issues.

On April 3, 2025, Congressman Smith addressed issues in the juvenile justice system on social media. He emphasized the need for reform and highlighted the Supporting Youth Opportunity and Preventing Delinquency Act. He stated, "Our juvenile justice system remains flawed, but creating opportunities for young people will make it better. I’ve been a staunch advocate of the Supporting Youth Opportunity and Preventing Delinquency Act, which helps local leaders educate and rehabilitate at-risk youth."

Later that day, Smith criticized the economic policies of the former President Donald Trump, particularly focusing on trade tariffs. Smith expressed his concerns, "Donald Trump’s tariffs are going to have a devastating impact. This is what happens when a narcissistic autocrat winds up in the White House."

Continuing his discourse on social issues, Congressman Smith mentioned a conversation he had with a former Veteran Affairs (VA) employee affected by budget cuts linked to Elon Musk's financial strategies involving Dogecoin. Smith posted, "I heard from a former VA employee who lost their job due to Elon Musk’s DOGE cuts. Here is their story."
