Rep. Adam Smith, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 9th district, has recently voiced his concerns on several issues through a series of tweets. Smith, who has been in office since 1997 and previously served in the Washington State Senate, is known for his outspoken views on national matters.

On March 6, 2025, Smith expressed apprehension regarding the Democratic response to President Trump's State of the Union address from the previous night. He stated, "I’m hearing a lot of people express concerns about the Democratic response to President Trump’s State of the Union last night."

In another tweet on the same day, Smith addressed environmental concerns related to federal oversight of forest land. He remarked that "The federal government oversees more than 44% of our state’s forest land. That’s thousands of acres that are now at risk of increased pollution, hurt wildlife, and damaged ecosystems due to Donald Trump’s reckless cuts at the Forest Service."

Later that day, Smith criticized budgetary priorities he attributes to far-right political figures and their billionaire donors. He cited a report by @USCBO stating that Republican budget goals could negatively impact Medicaid recipients. His tweet read: "The far-right is putting billionaire donors over hard-working Americans. A recent @USCBO report found that the Republican budget goals would mean slashing Medicaid and putting over 72 million people's lives at risk. Many of my constituents need Medicaid to survive, and I will not…"
