WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Adam Smith (D-Wash.) today released the following statement regarding Republic of Korea (ROK) President Yoon Suk Yeol’s address to a Joint Meeting of Congress. President Yoon Suk Yeol’s trip to Washington, D.C. marks the 70th anniversary of the U.S.-ROK alliance.
“President Yoon Suk Yeol’s historic speech to Congress today demonstrates the immense strength of the relationship between the U.S. and Republic of Korea. The alliance between our two countries is incredibly important to advancing peace, stability, prosperity, and economic and security cooperation. I applaud President Biden and President Yoon for working together to build on the strength of our alliance and to ensure that it remains strong for decades to come.
