CITY OF MERCER ISLAND: City and Chamber of Commerce Launch MInext Business Marketing Campaign

Marketingideas

City of Mercer Island issued the following announcement on Nov. 6.

The City of Mercer Island and the Mercer Island Chamber of Commerce are excited to announce the launch of MInext, a new marketing campaign designed to bring our local businesses through the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthen their connections with Island residents. Funded by grants received from the Port of Seattle and King County, the campaign will extend into early 2021.

“MInext invites Islanders to discover their next Mercer Island experience while supporting the local businesses that make the Island a great place to live, play, and experience,” says Sarah Bluvas, the City’s Emergency Small Business Liaison.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to test the strength and resiliency of the community, MInext encourages Islanders to look inward, learn more about the businesses in their own backyard, and give them a boost during this difficult time.

“Over the past few months, small businesses have been forced to adapt and sometimes rethink their entire plans. We thought bringing forward the human aspect, giving the owners ‘behind the masks’ a way to tell their stories, was key to re-engaging the community,” said Laurent Bourscheidt (of L + B Design) and Suzanne Zahr (of Suzanne Zahr, Inc), creative directors and strategists behind the collaborative campaign.

A new website, www.mercerislandnext.com, features videos and articles about local businesses and their owners, and also promotes MInGO, a new take on the game BINGO, through which customers can win prizes while supporting their local businesses.

When businesses enroll by becoming MInext Ambassadors, they receive promotional materials for their storefront and gain access to downloadable marketing MInext materials. Ambassadors will also be featured on the website and included in local and off-Island advertising efforts; other benefits for local businesses are also in development. Businesses can learn more and join the campaign by contacting Sarah Bluvas at the City (sarah.bluvas@mercerisland.gov) or visiting www.mercerislandnext.com.
