Flashing all-way stop signs added to SeaTac intersection
Flashing stop signs were installed at the intersection of 34th Avenue South and South 170th Street after drivers were failing to adhere to the existing all-way stop signs.
Reports of drivers not stopping at this intersection prompted the city to do some research and evaluate solutions. There are now four flashing all-way stop signs at this intersection.
This intersection also has pedestrian crossing flags that are used by people walking in the area. State law dictates that drivers stop for pedestrians and follow all existing signage.
As a reminder, the city also added all-way stop signs to two other intersections earlier this year–24th Avenue South at 142nd Street and 24th Avenue South at South 136th Street. Both intersections warranted all-way stop control due to sight distance.
