Des Moines home prices rise in the second half of 2018

The median sale price of a home sold in the second half of 2018 in Des Moines rose by $47,050 while total sales increased by 23%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From July through December of 2018, there were 91 homes sold, with a median sale price of $420,000 - a 12.6% increase over the $372,950 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 74 homes sold in Des Moines in the second half of 2017.

The median sales tax in Des Moines for the most recent year with available data, 2016, was $3,602, approximately 0.9% of the median home sale price for the second half of 2018.
