King County is urging swimmers in Green River and other areas to be extra careful after three tragic drownings in less than a week, KING 5 reported.
“It’s so dangerous right now with the water, with the temperatures," Sergeant Ryan Abbott, with the KCSO, told KING 5. "Even strong swimmers, in this climate right now (and) this time of the month being how strong the water is and how high it is, it’s impossible for even strong swimmers to come out of it.”
There were two drownings in Green River and another in White River within the five-day period, KING 5 reported.
In one incident, a 24-year-old man tried to jump into the river from a tire swing but was swept away by a current. His passing came just days after a 20-year-old woman fell into the water during a hiking trip.
The first drowning in May was a 65-year-old man who passed after his boat turned over and he was unable to swim, KING 5 reported.
