Rep. Adam Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 9th district, recently communicated several updates and engagements through his social media account. Smith, who has been a member of Congress since 1997 following his service in the Washington State Senate from 1991 to 1997, shared details of upcoming events and recent community interactions.

On May 5, Rep. Adam Smith announced an upcoming virtual town hall scheduled for Wednesday, May 7 at 6:00 p.m. He invited constituents to join via various platforms including Instagram, X (formerly known as Twitter), Facebook, YouTube, or by visiting a provided link. “Join me on Wednesday, May 7 at 6:00 p.m. for a Virtual Town Hall.”

Later that day, Smith reflected on his participation in the annual Kwibuka ceremony with members of the Rwandan community. The event commemorated the 31st anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide. In another post on May 5, Rep. Adam Smith celebrated with the Gee How Oak Tin Family Association during their anniversary event marking their long-standing contribution to Seattle over the past century and a quarter. Smith was born in Washington D.C., graduated from Fordham University in 1987 with a BA degree, and earned his JD from the University of Washington in 1990. Now residing in Bellevue at age 57, he continues his legislative work within Congress.
