Rep. Adam Smith, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 9th district, recently shared his thoughts on various issues through social media posts. Known for his extensive political career since replacing Randy Tate in 1997, Smith’s recent tweets cover both celebratory and critical topics.

On March 20, 2025, Rep. Adam Smith extended warm wishes to those celebrating Nowruz, the Persian New Year. In his tweet, he expressed hope for the coming year: “Happy Nowruz! May this new year bring you joy, health, and prosperity.”

Later that day, Smith turned his attention to international affairs and critiqued former President Donald Trump’s foreign policy approach. He noted that despite Trump’s promises to resolve conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine swiftly, these conflicts persist. He criticized Trump’s diplomatic strategies by stating: “Trump boasted he would end the wars in the Middle East and Ukraine on day one, but both rage on. Gaza is getting worse. Maybe sucking up to dictators, crapping all over allies and vowing to take others sovereign territory—Greenland, Gaza, Panama, Canada isn’t the best approach.”

In a subsequent post made moments later on March 20, 2025, Smith continued his critique of Trump’s policies by asserting their detrimental impact on national security: “Trump is making the US weaker and more vulnerable—the exact opposite of what he promised to do.”
