Rep. Adam Smith, currently serving as the U.S. Congress member for Washington’s 9th district since 1997, has recently posted several updates on current events and his activities via social media. Here are excerpts from postings made on April 28, 2025.

In one of his updates, Smith invited the public to attend an event aimed at educating the community about scams and fraud. “Please join my office at the Protecting Yourself from Scams and Fraud event on Tuesday, May 6 at 1:30 p.m. We will hear from guests from the Federal Trade Commission, Kent Police Department, and Kent Councilmember Boyd. I hope you can join us at the Kent Senior Activity Center”, he announced on April 28, 2025.

Additionally, he expressed thoughts on political strategy, emphasizing the need for coalition-building to support working-class citizens. As per his discussion on CNN, Smith stated, “It will not be enough to simply criticize Trump, even though that criticism is richly deserved. We need to build a coalition that fights for the working people. I spoke this morning with @KateBolduan on CNN about the next steps we need to take.” This announcement was made on April 28, 2025.

Also on April 28, 2025, in recognition of Workers Memorial Day, Smith referenced the Occupational Safety and Health Act while reaffirming his commitment to workplace safety and workers’ rights. He asserted, “Today is Workers Memorial Day. Over 50 years ago today, the Occupational Safety and Health Act was enacted, enabling the right to a safe job. As the son of a union member, I will continue to fight for workplace safety, fair wages, and adequate health care for people.”

Smith, 57, who was born in Washington, D.C., holds a Bachelor of Arts from Fordham University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Washington. Prior to his long-standing service in Congress, he represented Washington’s 33rd district in the State Senate.
