Rep. Adam Smith, who represents Washington’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on social media about his involvement in local community projects and constituent services.
On September 15, 2025, Smith posted about his collaboration with the India Association of Western Washington (IACS) and its Executive Director, Lalita Uppala: “It’s been great to see how IACS is moving forward with their new Kent Community Center. I was proud to work alongside Executive Director, Lalita Uppala, to secure over $2 million to support renovations to their facility, building on more than 40 years of community engagement in”.
Later that day, Smith addressed constituents’ needs for federal assistance by posting: “Whether you need help with expediting a passport or accessing your Social Security benefits, my team is here to help. For any casework assistance, call my district office.” The message included a link for further information.
On September 16, 2025, Smith announced his presence on Substack: “I am now on @SubstackInc. Join in on the conversation here: https://t.co/6KyGjVWjX9 https://t.co/X4uArcDhRN”.
Smith has represented Washington’s 9th district since 1997 after succeeding Randy Tate and previously served in the Washington State Senate from 1991 to 1997. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1965 and currently residing in Bellevue at age 57, Smith holds a BA from Fordham University and a JD from the University of Washington.
