Rep. Adam Smith, representative of Washington’s 9th District since 1997, has used social media to address various political and local issues. His recent tweets have highlighted actions favorable to unions, critiques of the Trump administration, and support for women-owned businesses.

On April 30, 2025, Smith expressed appreciation towards IAM751 for their meeting in Washington D.C. “Thanks to @IAM751 for meeting with me in my D.C. office today. Appreciate learning more ways to help your 33,000 union members and ensure fair benefits for all of these workers,” he stated.

Later that day, he criticized the administration of former President Donald Trump. In a tweet timestamped April 30, 2025, Smith emphasized the need to resist perceived authoritarian tendencies. “We cannot simply submit to Trump’s tyranny. I joined @KING5Seattle to discuss the first 100 days of his administration,” he wrote.

On the same day, Rep. Smith voiced his support for legislation targeting women entrepreneurs. “The Women’s Small Business Ownership Act, which would fund annual training geared towards helping women-owned business to start, operate, and grow their small business. I am proud to support this legislation because we need to build an economy that helps Washington businesses,” he announced. Smith emphasizes the importance of fostering economic growth by boosting women-owned businesses.

Smith has an extensive political career, serving his district in Congress for nearly three decades following his tenure in the Washington State Senate. A graduate of Fordham University and the University of Washington, Smith lives in Bellevue, Washington.
