In a subsequent tweet on February 13, 2025, Smith expressed criticism towards the Republican Party and its leadership. He tweeted: “We need to make Republicans own the problems that their party and their president created.”
Later on February 13, 2025, Rep. Smith addressed former President Donald Trump’s policies and their impact amidst rising inflation. He remarked: “Trump is focused on all the wrong things. He’s blowing holes in programs across the country and the world as inflation goes up.”
