Rep. Adam Smith, who represents Washington’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of tweets addressing topics ranging from President Trump’s governance to mental health support and international affairs.
On January 9, 2026, Smith stated, “I spoke with MS Now about President Trump’s governance.” Later that day, he added, “I joined @SimonWDC on @HopiumChron to discuss the Senate’s response to regime change in Venezuela.”
The following day, Smith addressed mental health issues by sharing his personal experiences and legislative efforts. On January 10, 2026, he tweeted: “I’ve had my own share of mental health struggles and believe it’s very important to have support services available. I introduced the Behavioral Health Crisis Care Centers Act to expand access to one-stop crisis stabilization centers that provide behavioral health support and”
Smith has been serving in Congress since 1997 after succeeding Randy Tate as representative for Washington’s 9th district. He previously served in the Washington State Senate from 1991 to 1997. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1965 and currently residing in Bellevue at age 57, Smith holds a BA from Fordham University (1987) and a JD from the University of Washington (1990).
