On May 9, 2025, Rep. Smith extended his congratulations to Austin Jung for winning this year’s Congressional Art Competition with his piece “In His Eyes.” “His piece ‘In His Eyes’ will be on display in the Capitol Building for the next year.” This recognition highlights young talent and offers them an opportunity to showcase their work at a national level.

The following day, May 10, 2025, Smith attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by LIUNA Local 242 in Des Moines.
