Rep. Adam Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing Washington’s 9th district since 1997, has recently shared several updates on Twitter regarding his advocacy efforts and reflections on significant legislative anniversaries.
On June 10, 2025, Rep. Smith tweeted about his advocacy for $2.5 million in federal funds aimed at replacing the HVAC system at the Tukwila Community Center. He emphasized that this project would provide reliable heating and cooling for vulnerable residents during extreme weather events while advancing climate and energy efficiency in Tukwila.
The following day, June 11, 2025, Rep. Smith noted the 62nd anniversary of the Equal Pay Act’s passage. He highlighted its role in promoting workforce growth, economic expansion, and dismantling barriers to pay equity since its enactment in 1963 but acknowledged that there is still progress to be made.
Later that day, he also commemorated the 13th anniversary of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), recognizing its impact on more than 800,000 Dreamers who contribute significantly to various industries and communities across the U.S. Rep. Smith asserted that DACA must remain until a permanent solution is achieved for these individuals.
Smith was born in Washington, D.C., in 1965 and now resides in Bellevue. A graduate of Fordham University with a BA earned in 1987 and holding a JD from the University of Washington obtained in 1990, he began his political career serving in the Washington State Senate from 1991 until his transition to Congress.
