Rep. Adam Smith, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 9th district, recently used his social media platform to comment on issues ranging from military engagement to healthcare and democracy.
On April 6, 2026, Smith posted: “Boots on the ground will only increase the cost of the war and the casualty count for the United States.”
Later that day, he addressed concerns about democratic values, stating: “We need to stand up and protect our democracy for the sake of our nation and our policies.”
The following morning, during National Public Health Week, Smith turned his attention to healthcare access in the United States. He wrote: “Access to health care is too difficult and too expensive for thousands of Americans, especially after President Trump decimated Affordable Care Act plans a few months ago. During National Public Health Week, I want to take the time to thank our healthcare providers for giving”
Smith has served in Congress since 1997 after replacing Randy Tate. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Washington State Senate from 1991 to 1997. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1965, Smith currently resides in Bellevue and holds degrees from Fordham University (BA) and the University of Washington (JD).
