Rep. Adam Smith, who has represented Washington’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress since 1997, recently addressed constituents through a series of posts on his social media account. The congressman discussed upcoming events, housing issues, and called for transparency regarding high-profile legal documents.
On November 20, 2025, Smith invited community members to participate in an online event: “Please join me on Saturday at 12 p.m. PT for a Virtual Town Hall. Attendees can join a livestream on Instagram, YouTube, X, or Facebook at @RepAdamSmith. It’s important to me that as your congressman, I hear your questions and concerns, so I hope you’ll join us on Saturday https://t.co/r0ILkBUfzi”.
Later that day, Smith emphasized the importance of addressing housing affordability: “We must find new pathways to build safe and affordable housing. Whether that’s creating more homes near public transit or creating prefabricated housing, I am a strong supporter of increasing the supply of housing to lower the cost of rent in our community.”
In another post from November 20, Smith advocated for public access to sensitive legal files: “The country needs the Epstein files to be released to bring clarity and closure. https://t.co/dn0iyZiyUi”
Smith has served in Congress since replacing Randy Tate in 1997 and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 1991 to 1997. Born in Washington D.C. in 1965 and currently residing in Bellevue at age 57, Smith is an alumnus of Fordham University (BA) and holds a JD from the University of Washington.
