On April 2, 2025, Rep. Adam Smith marked World Autism Awareness Day by urging society to extend acceptance to individuals with autism and support their families. He stated, “Today is World Autism Awareness Day, where we must share acceptance for those with autism and their loves ones supporting them.”

Later on the same day, Smith criticized recent administrative decisions by the Trump Administration, focusing on the impact of regional office closures within the Department of Health and Human Services. He tweeted, “Yesterday, the Trump Administration eliminated half of all Health and Human Services Regional Offices — including the HHS regional office in downtown Seattle. That office served Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska. Haphazardly closing these offices will delay, undermine, and”.
