It’s that time of year again for our Renton PD Love’s Campaign!

Each year, we try to take a moment to recognize individuals, businesses and organizations that go out of their way to make a difference or deserve to be recognized.

This year, we would like to recognize our Non-Commissioned Personnel, and their respective unit’s, for all the support they give to our officers and department.

We have several individuals and teams to express our appreciation to, such as our Animal Control and Parking Enforcement Officers, Crime Analyst, Domestic Violence Victim Advocate, Evidence Technicians, Electronic Home Detention Coordinators, and Administrative Assistants.  The following is a breakdown of just some of their responsibilities:

Animal Control Officers – investigate and enforce noise violations, such as barking dogs, enforce leash law violations, investigate animal cruelty complaints, enforce the city’s licensing requirements for dogs and cats and take reports of lost/found domestic animals.

Parking Enforcement Officers – promote vitality in the business areas through timed parking enforcement and respond to neighborhood parking issues and complaints.

Crime Analyst – performs technical crime analysis duties such as collecting, categorizing, analyzing, and distributing information. The Crime Analyst uses this information from our agency, and others, to identify emerging patterns, series, and trends. They then provide intelligence and crime analysis for patrol, investigations, and the department.

Domestic Violence Victim Advocate – provides assistance to victims such as safety planning and problem solving, domestic violence prevention and education, protection orders, emergency short-term hotel shelter, food and clothing, transportation, and interpreter services.

Evidence Technicians – support investigations, from crime scene processing, photography, search warrant execution, secured drug and firearm disposals, to returning property to crime victims and proper distribution of collected evidence for analysis.  Special recognition goes out to our Evidence Tech’s, who recently passed a State Audit with flying colors!

Electronic Home Detention Coordinators – operate an Electronic Home Detention (EHD) program and a 24/7 alcohol monitoring program that provides an alternative to incarceration for non-violent offenders.

Administrative Assistants – Perform technical, professional, administrative tasks and support services of varying depth while facilitating the efficient operation of their assigned office.  We currently have administrative assistants assigned to Investigations, Training and Patrol.

For us, these are invaluable individuals that together make up the amazing team of Non-Commissioned Officers and personnel.  We thank you for your service and want to recognize the difference you make, not only for our department, but for our community.  Thank you!
