Rep. Adam Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 9th district, shared several initiatives he is advocating for through his social media platform. Smith has been a member of Congress since 1997 after replacing Randy Tate and has previously served in the Washington State Senate from 1991 to 1997.
On June 2, 2025, Rep. Adam Smith announced his advocacy for $2.5 million in federal funds to relocate and renovate the Federal Way Day Center in WA-09. He emphasized that this project aims to support individuals experiencing homelessness by creating a facility with an emergency shelter and improving service delivery and operational efficiency.
Later that day, Smith advocated for $4 million in federal funds for the Airport Station Area Pedestrian Improvements Project in SeaTac within WA-09. The project focuses on enhancing pedestrian safety, lighting, and mobility to improve access to transit systems, schools, and the airport.
Additionally, on June 2nd, Rep. Smith participated in a housing development roundtable held in Bellevue. During this event, discussions centered around increasing affordability, reducing permit inefficiencies, and expanding the housing market within local communities.
