FAA investigating more laser strikes near Sea-Tac airport

0Comments

Three commercial pilots reported laser strikes within the last week at the Sea-Tac airport, prompting an FAA investigation.

Delta and Alaska airlines said they were illuminated by a green laser on Friday, Nov. 18 and another Alaska flight filed a report the following day.

Pointing a laser at an aircraft is dangerous and illegal, resulting in an $11,000 fine per incident. Laser strikes can blind and disorient pilots, which is a

serious safety issue.

The FAA has a campaign to raise awareness about the danger of laser strikes, which can temporarily blind a pilot. People are encouraged to report

these incidences.
