RENTON, WA – The City of Renton is providing two  opportunities for community stakeholders to participate in and provide  feedback on the city’s update to its Clean Economy Strategy. The updated  plan, CES 2.0, will help guide the city towards a resilient, low-carbon  future.

The city will host a CES 2.0 Zoom open house on May 25 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There will be an optional question-and-answer session following the open house.

An online community survey is also available. The survey is available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog, and Chinese. It will close at 11:59 p.m. on June 22.

The city will also hold focus group meetings and  1-on-1 interviews in the coming months. There will be a public hearing  during a city council meeting before adopting the plan.

The original Clean Economy Strategy was adopted in  2011. CES 2.0 will build on that foundation and use input from the  Renton community and all city departments to provide a roadmap to reduce  greenhouse gas emissions, enhance environmental sustainability, and  prepare for a changing climate. It will be tailored to Renton’s needs,  reflect the latest scientific evidence, incorporate recommendations from  dozens of peer cities, and reflect community input. The updated plan is  expected to be adopted in spring 2023.

Background information on CES 2.0, including a  complete project timeline and additional opportunities for community  member involvement, can be found on the project’s website
