RENTON, WA – The City of Renton seeks candidates to fill vacancies on the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee.

The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee meets to review  applications and presentations from public and non-profit agencies  seeking funding through Renton’s Tourism Promotion

Grants program. The  committee’s final recommendations are sent to Renton City Council for  review and approval.

The city’s 1% tax on all in-city lodging stays less  than 30 days funds the grant program. The State of Washington authorizes  the tax under RCW 67.28.180.

The current chair of the committee is Renton City  Councilmember James Alberson. Members are equally divided between  representatives of businesses required to collect the

taxes (e.g., the  hotel industry) and individuals involved in activities authorized to  receive funding (e.g., community non-profits). Successful candidates  must also possess general

knowledge of tourism-related activities.

To apply for the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, download or complete an application from the city’s website.

Paper applications should be mailed to City of  Renton, Community and Economic Development Division, 6th Floor, 1055 S.  Grady Way, Renton, WA 98057.
