City Council approved additional contracts with the Multi-Service  Center-Emergency Assistance and Partner in Employment for additional  human services at Tuesday’s meeting.

The City is already under contract with these organizations and is  now able to provide extra funding utilizing unallocated funds in the  2021-2022 biennial budget.

SeaTac’s policy requires that requests from human services agencies  for additional funding outside the standard funding cycle be justified  as an urgent need. The definition of an “urgent need” is that a human  services agency must demonstrate through data indicating that the  current and future needs surpass the available funding.

Eligible human services agencies are agencies that provide services  specifically to SeaTac residents and City-operated programs for seniors,  youth, teens and/or special needs populations.

In addition, the human service agency requesting off-cycle funding  must already be under contract for the 2021-2022 biennium to be deemed  eligible.

The City notified all currently contracted human services agencies of  this additional funding opportunity on March 16, 2022. As of June 16,  2022, the City received six applications from human services agencies  requesting additional funding.

The City Manager has also approved the contracts for additional  funding with Westside Baby, Tukwila Pantry, Lutheran Community Resource  Center and Catholic Community Services.

If any agency that is currently under contract interested in applying  for additional funds, please contact Kim Cooper, Human Services  Coordinator at kcoopoer@seatacwa.gov.
