With low temperatures and precipitation in the mix, SeaTac residents must be prepared for snow and ice. SeaTac crews work 12-hour shifts during
winter-weather events, laying down salt when necessary and plowing.
SeaTac maintenance crews run practice drills to prepare for winter weather and did a run through this fall.
“It’s vital to be ready before the snow hits,” Public Works Maintenance and Operations Manager Bryan Chappell said. “We practice so this is second
nature, because snowplows run round the clock during snowstorms and crews need to be prepared to tackle whatever challenge Mother Nature throws
their way.”
Residents are encouraged to stay indoors if possible, especially if driving in these conditions is unsafe. If in need of a place to warm up King County
libraries and the SeaTac Community Center are open during normal business hours for people to heat up.
In the event of a snowstorm, SeaTac’s goal is to keep city roads clear of snow. We have established a list of priority roads, which will be plowed and
salted first. Residential streets will be done as soon as possible after the priority list has been completed. For a list of SeaTac priority plowing routes and
