Description
Artist’s Talk with Anna Mia Davidson
Join photographer Anna Mia Davidson for a talk about our current temporary exhibit, ‘Ukraine: Carpathian Mountain Villages.’ In 2004 with special permission of Ukraine’s Ministry of
Cultural Affairs, Davison traveled to Lviv Oblast, Ivano Frankivsk Oblast, Chernivtso Oblast, and the villages of Ternivsti, Yaremche, Kosiv, and other remote villages scattered in the
Carpathian mountain highlands. She documented these remote villages and the mountain people, photographing ways of life at risk of being lost. The photos in this exhibit show us
wood carvers, wool rug makers, subsistence farmers, and church caretakers, among others; they bear witness and document history.
Anna Mia Davidson is a freelance photographer based in Seattle. She believes strongly in the power of images to influence, inspire, and impact the way we see the world around us.
Her photographs have been exhibited nationally and internationally.
Masks encouraged. Adults $5 / students $2 / members always free.
This exhibit and program are made possible by a grant from the Renton Municipal Arts Commission.
