Rep. Adam Smith, who represents Washington’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on December 17, 2025, addressing rising health care costs and legislative efforts to address them.
In a tweet published at 17:28 UTC, Smith stated, “Health care costs are about to rise for millions of Americans on January 1, 2026. A bipartisan effort to stop the rising costs has the support it needs to pass the House of Representatives. @SpeakerJohnson must bring this to the floor for a vote immediately.”
Later that day at 17:54 UTC, Smith highlighted concerns regarding tax credits and access to health care coverage. He wrote, “If we don’t do something about these tax credits, hundreds of thousands of people will either lose their health care or see costs go up exponentially. Despite this, Donald Trump has not had a health care plan for the last 10 years.”
At 19:06 UTC on the same day, Smith referenced an interview with Jen Psaki regarding foreign policy matters. He tweeted, “I spoke with Jen Psaki from @MSNOWNews about Trump’s actions in Venezuela.”
Smith has represented Washington’s 9th District in Congress since 1997 after serving in the Washington State Senate from 1991 to 1997. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1965 and currently residing in Bellevue at age 57, Smith holds degrees from Fordham University and the University of Washington.
