Rep. Adam Smith, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 9th district since 1997, posted a series of updates on December 17, 2025, covering topics from national security to local transit and constituent engagement.
On December 17, Smith wrote, “I spoke with @CNN about White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles’ comments on the boat strikes.” This statement follows recent discussions regarding maritime security and White House responses.
Later that day, Smith addressed local infrastructure developments in King County. In his post at 16:24 UTC, he stated, “I hope the new transit stop in Federal Way continues to fuel housing and the local economy in King County. Accessible, affordable transportation supports jobs, families, and the local economy.”
Smith also invited constituents to participate in an upcoming virtual event. At 17:03 UTC on December 17 he announced, “Join me on Saturday, December 20 at 12 p.m. PT for a Virtual Town Hall. You may join livestreams on X, Facebook, Instagram or YouTube, or visit https://t.co/76FKbh1ph2. I hope that you can join me then.”
Smith has represented Washington’s 9th district since succeeding Randy Tate in 1997 and previously served in the Washington State Senate from 1991 to 1997. Born in Washington D.C. in 1965 and currently residing in Bellevue at age 57, Smith holds degrees from Fordham University (BA) and the University of Washington (JD).
