Rep. Adam Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing Washington’s 9th district, shared his thoughts on various topics through a series of tweets over the past few days.

On July 4, Rep. Smith expressed his gratitude for living in and representing parts of the nation, stating “Happy Fourth of July. Thankful to live and represent parts of this nation.”

The following day, July 5, he commemorated the 90th anniversary of President Franklin D. Roosevelt signing the National Labor Relations Act into law. Reflecting on his personal connection to unions through his father’s work as a unionized baggage handler at SeaTac Airport, he affirmed his continued support for unions by stating “As the son of a unionized baggage handler at SeaTac Airport, I know how important unions and their employees are to this nation’s workforce, and will continue to support their”.

On July 6, Rep. Smith invited constituents to participate in an upcoming Virtual Town Hall scheduled for Wednesday, July 9 at 6 p.m., emphasizing its importance for hearing public thoughts and questions. He mentioned that it would be accessible via multiple platforms: Instagram, X (formerly known as Twitter), Facebook, YouTube or directly via a provided link. His tweet stated “Join me for a Virtual Town Hall on Wednesday July 9 at 6 p.m. Tune in via livestream on Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube… Hearing your thoughts and questions is a top priority for me as your representative…”

Born in Washington D.C., Adam Smith has served in Congress since replacing Randy Tate in 1997 after previously serving in the Washington State Senate from 1991-1997. The congressman resides in Bellevue and holds degrees from Fordham University and the University of Washington.
