Rep. Adam Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 9th district since 1997, shared insights from his recent engagements via social media on June 3, 2025.

On this date, Rep. Smith expressed his support for the NASA Space Grant Program during a visit to Bellevue College. He noted the program’s role in aiding students through scholarships and research opportunities. He stated, “I got to see the NASA Space Grant Program at @BellevueCollege yesterday, which helps students access scholarships, fellowships, research opportunities, and workforce development skills. I am a strong supporter of expanding the Space Grant on a national level and appreciated”.

Later that day, Rep. Smith discussed U.S.-China relations at an event held at the University of Washington (UW). He appreciated the dialogue with attendees, stating “Thanks to the folks who came to our discussion on U.S.-China relations last night at UW. Great conversation and I appreciated the opportunity to hear everyone’s views.”

In another post from June 3rd, he highlighted concerns regarding funding cuts to AmeriCorps under the Trump administration after speaking with Ashley Palmer of Washington Service Corps. He tweeted “I heard from Ashley Palmer, Director of Washington Service Corps, about how the Trump administration funding cuts to AmeriCorps has impacted her work.”

Adam Smith was born in Washington D.C., graduated from Fordham University with a BA in 1987 and earned a JD from the University of Washington in 1990.
