Rep. Adam Smith, a U.S. Congressman representing Washington’s 9th district since 1997, shared updates on recent legislative and media engagements through a series of posts on December 5, 2025.
On his official X account, Smith noted his appearance on CNN to discuss a recent maritime incident: “I joined @CNN last night to talk about the second boat strike on September 2.” (posted December 5, 2025). Later that day, he referenced another interview focused on similar issues: “Last night, I spoke with @MSNOWNews’s Chris Hayes about boat strikes in the Caribbean.” (posted December 5, 2025).
In addition to discussing these incidents in national media appearances, Smith announced new legislative action. He wrote: “Today, I introduced the Community Health Access Through Resilient Grid Energy (CHARGE) Act alongside @RepDavidValadao. This bipartisan legislation would create funding for solar energy systems and battery storage technologies at community health clinics, helping to maintain” (posted December 5, 2025).
Smith has been a member of Congress since replacing Randy Tate in 1997 and previously served in the Washington State Senate from 1991 to 1997. Born in Washington D.C. in 1965 and now residing in Bellevue, Smith holds degrees from Fordham University and the University of Washington.
