Rep. Adam Smith, U.S. Congressman representing Washington’s 9th district since 1997, posted a series of statements on October 10, 2025, addressing former President Donald Trump’s actions and recent political events.

In his first post, Smith commented on the federal budget, writing, “On Trump’s extreme, partisan budget: https://t.co/p5Joy47y5o” (October 10, 2025).

He also announced a community engagement event, stating, “Virtual Town Hall October 9 2025 https://t.co/GOusUmQ6Ko” (October 10, 2025).

Later, Smith addressed Trump’s legal confrontations with New York Attorney General Letitia James, writing, “Trump is persecuting Letitia James for finally holding him accountable. He is just trashing the Constitution and turning us into an autocracy. https://t.co/HDmhpR3ApK” (October 10, 2025).

Smith, born in Washington, D.C. in 1965 and a resident of Bellevue, has represented Washington’s 9th District in Congress since 1997 after serving in the Washington State Senate from 1991 to 1997. He holds a BA from Fordham University and a JD from the University of Washington.
