Rep. Adam Smith, who has represented Washington’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress since 1997, recently addressed a range of issues through his official Twitter account.

In another post on December 3, Smith responded to remarks made by former President Trump: “President Trump’s racist, xenophobic rant yesterday is a disgrace to the Somali members of our community. I will continue to stand with our Somali neighbors in the Ninth District.”
Smith has served as a congressional representative since replacing Randy Tate in 1997 and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 1991 to 1997. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1965 and currently residing in Bellevue, Smith holds degrees from Fordham University (BA) and the University of Washington (JD).
