Rep. Adam Smith, U.S. Congressman representing Washington’s 9th district since 1997, posted a series of tweets in early January 2026 addressing topics including U.S.-Venezuela relations and changes to the childhood vaccination schedule.
On January 6, Smith wrote, “I spoke with @CNN yesterday to discuss Venezuela. https://t.co/nDsmZu3h8u”. The following day, he added, “I joined @MSNOWNews to discuss U.S. relations with Venezuela. https://t.co/cUpEImAlPo”.
Later on January 7, Smith addressed recent developments from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding vaccinations: “Earlier this week, the Center For Disease Control and Prevention declared a new childhood vaccination schedule, removing 6 vaccinations. Those removed vaccinations are rooted in scientific research, have protected millions of kids from hospitalizations, and have prevented”.
Smith has represented Washington’s 9th district in Congress since succeeding Randy Tate in 1997 and previously served in the Washington State Senate from 1991 to 1997. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1965, Smith resides in Bellevue and holds degrees from Fordham University (BA) and the University of Washington (JD).
