Rep. Adam Smith, who has represented Washington’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress since 1997, recently posted several updates on social media addressing a range of topics including international incidents, community events, and economic concerns.
On December 9, 2025, Smith wrote: “I joined @CNN last night to discuss the video of the boat strikes in the Caribbean.” The post highlights his appearance on national television to address recent developments involving maritime incidents in the Caribbean.
Later that day, Smith promoted an upcoming community event by stating: “REMINDER: Join my office for an Energy Efficiency Webinar on tomorrow, Wednesday December 10 at 10 a.m. We’ll be joined by presenters from Spark Northwest, Puget Sound Energy, and Washington State Department of Commerce’s weatherization team to discuss programs to use during the”. The webinar aims to provide constituents with information about energy efficiency programs and features representatives from regional organizations.
In another post on December 9, Smith addressed economic issues facing American families: “American consumers are being forced to pay more for everyday essentials — from coffee and ground beef to bananas and more. My constituents can’t afford higher grocery bills in the checkout line. We need President Trump to reverse his chaotic policies for the sake of working-class”.
Smith has served as a congressional representative since replacing Randy Tate in 1997 and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 1991 to 1997. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1965 and currently residing in Bellevue, Smith holds degrees from Fordham University and the University of Washington.
